Cricket mobile hot spot
The reason I was researching this issue is not due to lack of being able to tether, but rather because that menu also (I am 99% sure) will contain options for me to manually choose network mode. It appears to me that Cricket included a disable of the tethering & networks menu with their firmware for this model as well - and didn't actually do a great job with the disable IMHO, because the suspect menu title is still revealed for a split second but isn't accessible. I am absolutely sure my phone has a tethering & network menu, because when I enter Settings>Networks>Mobile Networks (which takes me to options for 'Data Enabled' and my APNs) and then tap the back button, briefly at the top the menu reads 'tethering & networks' but with no options below the menu title, and then it toggles to read 'wireless & networks'. I found this thread while researching an issue with my Cricket LG Optimus L70 D-321. I would assume a similar edit could be made to a Cricket branded phone to enable the native tethering menu.

After rooting the phone, I was able to change a setting to enable the tethering menu. This is similar to hiding the tethering menu on a Virgin Mobil LG Tribute 2 that I recently picked up and put on Ringplus. Cricket disabled the tethering menu in their branded Galaxy S4. Once I rooted and flashed a T-mobile S4 ROM, it had the native tethering menu under settings and tethering worked fine.

When I got my Cricket branded Samsung Galaxy S4 last year, it didn't have the native tethering menu in settings.
